about

“Shake” is a song about the broken people. Myself and Morgan included. The kind of people that look fine until you get up close and you can see the little cracks. They're my favorite kind. Maybe it's because I am one or maybe because I just feel at home around them. So, we wanted to write about those nights, when it's late and you start talking about the things that you keep to yourself, and having someone tell you that you don't even need to say those things because they understand and they feel it too.

We recorded the basic tracks at BarnSound Studios with Graham Travaglini on drums and Carly Bondra on guitar. All in one room. Standing in a circle. It was the first time Morgan and I got to record that way, and it will be the only way we do it from here on out. Our long time collaborator Scott McGinley helped out on some overdubs. The amazing Derek Chafin produced with the legendary Peter Humphreys mastering.

lyrics

Did you overhear them talking?
In the bathroom of the bar
You were in and out of black outs
In the backseat of a car
All you wanted was a sunrise
But it's just 2am
And it's easier to find a stranger
Than it is to find a friend

And when you start to Shake
You don't need to say these things to me
And when you start to Shake
You don't need to say these things to me

Because I already get ya
And I get ya real good

You thought you'd have a big life
All your exes doin good
You say that you would change yourself
If you thought you could

(Chorus)

Way down on your own
Are you far from home
Are you far from home
Way down on your own
Are you far from home
Are you far far far

(Chorus)

Did you overhear them talking?
In the bathroom of the bar
You were in and out of black outs
In the backseat of a car

Because I already get ya
And I get ya real good
